Resource for Cellists and Composers
The Orpheus Alliance website now contains a re-issue of a series of four articles written for Living Music by Craig Hultgren of Birmingham Southern College. The text is illuminated with videos of Hultgren playing the examples of scores that appear in the articles. This enables the student to see the score while viewing its performance. The site is entirely in Flash. It is located at: http://www.colleges.org/~music/cello/index.html The resource should be valuable for instructors, performers and composers. Please send your comments to Craig Hultgren at chultgre@bsc.edu.

Instructors of other applied instruments who are interested in creating similar projects for their instruments should contact Patricia Gray at gray@colleges.org.

Middlebury College Concert Features Works by ACS Composers

On Wednesday, March 17, members of the Orpheus Alliance will present a workshop outlining the work done by the ACS music collaborative. More than thirty faculty members and information technologists from colleges in MANE (our northeastern counterpart) will attend. The workshop will be followed in the evening with a concert featuring composers and performers from ACS, MANE, and MITC. The concert will be webcast live at 8:00 p.m. EST and later archived. Complete information about the workshop and concert is available at: http://www.cet.middlebury.edu/prgm_regional_music.php

Teach Together via Technology Workshop - June 1-9
(Open to all faculty; teams encouraged)

The ACS Technology Center will be holding a summer 2004 seminar for individuals and teams who want to learn more about inter-campus teaching in the liberal arts using the web environment. Seasoned staff and faculty, all veterans of team-taught web courses, will demonstrate the faculty-friendly Course Delivery System software developed at the Tech Center, and offer advice on designing and running such courses. There will be plenty of opportunities for hands-on practice, as well as time to work on course content. Teams are especially welcome, and we will assist in finding collaborators. Contact Rebecca Davis, rdavis@colleges.org for more information if you are interested. Applications are available here.
