Faculty News
Prof. Diane Thornton of Davidson (pictured at left with Prof. John Krebs of Hendrix at the 2003 ACS New Music Festival) will perform arias by Joseph Summer in a series of Shakespeare Concerts in the Boston area January 23-26. Prof. Thornton will be also guest soloist in a Carnegie Hall performance of the Duruflé Requiem on June 6.

Exchange Concerts and Lectures
This semester's exchange concerts will focus on Russian music. Prof. Ross Smith of Centenary will perform at Rollins and Prof. Cynthia Lawing of Davidson and Prof. Gloria Cook of Rollins will give a two-piano concert at Centenary. Plans are also underway for a set of exchange lectures in the area of world music. More information will be announced next month.

FLASH!

Luna Nova, the ACS new music ensemble now has its own domain name and a new Flash website at www.lunanova.org. The site contains a repertoire list of more than seventy works, audio and video clips, and complete information about the players. We encourage everyone to visit the site and send us your comments.

ACS Flash Animations for Music Analysis Cited by Educause and MERLOT
The Flash animations used in the music Learning Objects on the Orpheus Alliance website have been recognized on the Educause Effective Practices and Solutions site. In addition, MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) has recently given 4.5 stars to our Sonata Allegro Form in Eine kleine Nachtmusik, K. 525. If you find these resources useful in your classes we would appreciate hearing about your experiences with them. A new project involving the creation of more animated 20th/21st century music analyses is underway. If you would like to participate in any way please send email to gray@colleges.org.
