Eric McIntyre, Assistant Professor of Music at Centenary College, will give a presentation at the Texas Music Educators Association meeting in San Antonio on February 12. The subject is "Resources for the Aspiring Composer in Your Studio." It will focus on ideas and resources for nurturing young composers and preparing them for college/university level composition programs. Topics include locating private teachers, internet resources, competitions, performance opportunities, summer festivals, and general expectations for composers who wish to pursue composition studies incollege level. Professor McIntyre is a member of the ACS Composers Forum. and will use it as a model of a website that provides students with the essential resources such as listening, finding teachers, exploring trends, learning about composers. He will also publicize the upcoming ACS New Music Festival to be held at Southwestern University July 17-22.
Second ACS Composition Contest Deadline March 15
Deadline for entry in the Second ACS Composition Contest is March 15, 2003. The student winner will be invited to be a guest at the ACS Technology Workshop and New Music Festival at Southwestern University July 17-22. Contest guidelines and entry forms are available at the ACS Music Composition site.

March 25 Clarinet/Saxophone Concert at Morehouse College
Ted Gurch, Assistant Principal/E-flat Clarinetist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, will present a recital on Tuesday, March 25, 8:00 p.m. Sale Hall Chapel, Morehouse College. One of the works on the program will be Romance for Saxophone and Piano by Robert Tanner, assistant professor of music at Morehouse. Prof. Tanner will be a participant in the July ACS New Music Festival. Mr. Gurch will be the Festival's guest clarinetist in the performance of Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire.

Artists Exchange for Fall, 2003 Announced at Davidson and Rollins
Prof. Cynthia Lawing of Davidson College and Prof. Gloria Cook of Rollins College will be the ACS Exchange Artists for next fall. Profs. Lawing and Cook are sisters and have played recitals for two pianos throughout their careers. One of the works on the program will be a new composition by Prof. Daniel Crozier, assistant professor of composition at Rollins. Exact dates and programs will be announced in the summer.
