Dorothy Hindman's music has been performed extensively in the U.S. and abroad. She has received numerous awards and her recent commissions include a cello concerto from the Gadsden Symphony Orchestra, a youth opera from Opera for Youth, Inc., a piano trio from AMTA/MTNA and a full length opera from Alabama OperaWorks. She is currently commissioned by the Lithium Saxophone Quartet for a work to premiere in the spring of 2003. She teaches theory, ear training, and composition at Birmingham-Southern College.
