Circuit Rider Program
As part of the Mellon Information Fluency Project Grant, ACS funded a limited number of visits to ACS institutions by faculty and staff members from other member institutions who had incorporated Information Fluency principles, guidelines or materials into their teaching or curriculum. The goal of this program was to provide ACS members with concrete examples of information fluency in the classroom as well as develop a consortial network of librarians, faculty and IT staff with experience in addressing information fluency issues. The program operated similarly to the successful ACS Technology Circuit Rider Program. IF Circuit Riders visited other campuses as consultants to provide assistance with information fluency issues or demonstrated how they had addressed such issues on their own campuses. Such consultations were tailored to the needs of the institution making the invitation. For example, they took the form of:
ACS paid for the visitors' travel expenses as described below and paid each visitor an honorarium. Budget Parameters Consultations: Travel expenses and $500/day per full day of consultation, with a limit of $1500 per visit Workshops: Travel expenses and $500 for leading a full-day workshop; $350 for leading half-day workshop Presentations: Travel expenses and $250 for a presentation or demonstration Reverse Circuit Ride (visiting established program): Travel, lodging and meals expenses The ACS Information Fluency Circuit Rider Program requested that host institutions paid lodging and meals for IF Circuit Riders. |
