Preparation of Interactive CD-ROM for Beginning Chemistry

The purpose of the project was to prepare a CD-ROM with interactive material to help beginning students with some of the problem areas of general chemistry. The material requires a computer with a CD-ROM drive (greater than 2 speed), Windows 95 and Word 97. The material is interactive by using hyperlinks between the answers to questions and explanations

I was able to finish three chapters and hope to finish the other 14 by the end of the academic year. I will be able to test the material on a group of about 20 students in the summer of 1999 and on a larger group in the Fall of 1999. The student testing will be helpful in making sure that I have covered most of the common wrong answers.

The CD-ROM is available to any faculty. I plan to issue the CD-ROM with as many chapters as I have finished at the time of the request. A copy with the first three chapters accompanies this report.

I would be happy to assist anyone who wants to work with hyperlinks in Microsoft WORD.
