Interim Report, January 20, 1998
Andy Newcomb Richmond University

  1. The Technology Fellows (TechFs) program was up and running at the start of fall semester with three TechFs working with the students and faculty in psychology.

  2. We have kept a log of all requests, and we also completed an evaluation at the end of the semester. The program has seen good use and the response to the TechFs has been very positive from both students and faculty (based on a comparison of the perceived effectiveness of the central university Help Desk).

  3. In response to suggestions from the evaluation, we are working hard to let more students know about the program and ways that the TechFs can help to integrate technology into student learning.

  4. I submitted a program improvement request to the university to expand the TechFs program to the Health/Sports Science Department and the Music Department. Although official approval canšt come until March. The proposal has been recommended to the president, and we anticipate expansion of the program for 1998-1999 (and also continuing funding).

  5. I (along with Fran White, our Departmental Technology Specialist, and Joie Acosta, one of the TechFs) have submitted a proposal to EDUCOM to present our program at their 1998 meetings.

We have a web site supporting our program. Although the site is still under development, you can get a sense of what we are doing by visiting http://www.richmond.edu/~psych/techfell.html
