The ACS Technology Center at Southwestern University was established as a facility for ACS faculty, staff, and student development in the use of technology, and served both as a training center and as a clearinghouse for information about the use of technology for teaching and learning in higher education. Our workshops offered a number of opportunities for faculty and staff technology development, for discussion and planning of technology-facilitated collaborative endeavors, and for the development and facilitation of long-term communities of interest that provided a source of ongoing support, expertise and knowledge. These included technology training workshops on a variety of technologies for faculty and staff, including “train the trainer” sessions for instructional support staff, discipline-specific workshops for faculty that promoted ongoing collegial collaboration and broad inter-disciplinary offerings, such as planning digital collections, GIS, or information fluency.

On January 1, 2006 the ACS Technology Center became a part of the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education (NITLE). The Southern office of NITLE will be at Southwestern University. For more information on upcoming NITLE programs and events see the NITLE calendar at http://www.nitle.org/index.php/nitle/opportunities/programs/upcoming_events.
