Annual Meeting - November 11 -13, 2012

Meeting: November 13-15, 2011, Centre College

The Senior Student Affairs Officers held their annual fall meeting November 13-15, 2011. Randy Hays, Vice President and Dean of Student Life and his staff at Centre College served as gracious hosts for this year's meeting. As always, the gathering included a campus tour and on-campus meetings. Centre is in a beautiful location and the campus is warm, well-maintained, and growing.

At the meeting the group identified topics for discussion and conducted a number of quick three-minute polls. One of the topics that gathered the most interest included the Office of Civil Rights Dear Colleague Letter related to Title IX. That letter provided institutions specific guidelines to ensure compliance related to sexual harassment and assault on college campuses. The ACS schools discussed which staff members are designated as the Title IX Coordinators on respective campuses. Other topics included building learning communities, involuntary withdrawals, and fraternity and sorority issues.

Polls covered a range of topics including security, activity fees, residency requirements, drug and alcohol policies, student media, non-emergency transport practices and much more. The fall 2012 meeting is scheduled for November 11-13 at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas.
