SPECIALISTS NEEDED FOR ACS ARCHAEOLOGY PROGRAM

Research opportunities with the ACS Excavation Program in Turkey are now available for ACS faculty. In particular, the project is seeking a paleobotanist to pursue paleo-environmental studies, a physical anthropologist to do mortuary analysis and help in the excavation of a Late Roman/Byzantine cemetery, and an anthropologist to study modern day nomadism, etc. in the Elaml1 plain. For more information about the excavation and ACS Archaeology Program, please see http://www.colleges.org/~turkey/. Interested faculty should contact the project leader, Mark Garrison (mgarriso@trinity.edu) or the ACS office.

The Centre College Chemistry Department and ACS are sponsoring a one-day faculty workshop on the application of NMR equipment to the undergraduate curriculum. The conference is scheduled for June 26, 1998 at Centre College (Danville, Kentucky). TEACHING MATERIALS FROM TECHNOLOGY FELLOWS NOW ON-LINE

ACS-Mellon Technology Fellows in all disciplines have been producing course materials and reports about the use and impact of these materials. Please visit the Technology Fellows home page, http://www.colleges.org/tech/fellows98.html, to look for useful materials in your field. Contact information for all faculty fellows is also available on these pages, so that colleagues can contact one another about teaching with technology, producing on-line curricular materials and related issues.

ACS FALL STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE AT UNIV. OF THE SOUTH

Calling ACS student leaders! Please tell your students about this opportunity to learn about all facets of campus leadership, in both theory and practice. The conference will be held at the University of the South campus in Sewanee, TN on November 6-8, 1998. Participation cost is $150 per person, which includes lodging and meals. HELP US PLAN THE 1999 ACS WOMEN'S STUDIES CONFERENCE
