Drs. Laurie Heyer and Malcolm Campbell at Davidson College are interested in offering a microarray workshop in Summer 2004 for biologists/chemists, mathematicians/computer scientists, or for a multi-disciplinary group of faculty. The focus would be on analysis of microarrays after the data are collected, utilizing the public domain software called MAGIC Tool, which was written by Heyer's undergraduate students (http://www.bio.davidson.edu/MAGIC). If you are interested in this workshop opportunity, please contact Deena Berg at dberg@colleges.org.
Both faculty and student composers in ACS music departments have found a valuable networking tool in the ACS Composers Forum. Since its inception in 2001 fourteen members have been involved in performances and commissions of new works. Read about the details at: http://www.colleges.org/~music/compnet.html. 5) MUSIC THEORY ONLINE STUDY GUIDES Members of the Orpheus Alliance are developing a website designed for music theory faculty who want a wider variety of examples from the standard repertoire than are commonly available in theory texts. Timothy Cutler from Austin College is leading this project. The goal is to provide a score and simultaneous recording for each example. The scores are in PDF format and can be printed for use in class or exams. The first section is devoted to Neapolitan Sixth Chords. Music faculty are encouraged to visit the site at http://www.colleges.org/~music/theory/neapolitan.html and send comments to Patricia Gray at gray@colleges.org.
