LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS AT LIBERAL ARTS COLLEGES WORKSHOP TO BE HELD AT REED COLLEGE, OCTOBER 20-22

Conference participants will focus on the Learning Management System (LMS) and its role in pedagogy and instructional technology on the liberal arts college campus. As hubs which mediate student and faculty access to course investigations, instructional tools, and external databases and resources, these systems constitute a central and changing piece of infrastructure designed to support teaching and learning. Participants will examine the role that LMS systems play in instruction and help chart paths to more effective use of these tools in the future.
Teams of two participants will be preferred, with a mix of IT, faculty, and librarian roles also preferred.
This conference is sponsored by CODEX, a NITLE collaboration advancing the development of resources and strategies for digital assets management.

MILLSAPS COLLEGE TO HOST MANAGING DIGITAL IMAGE COLLECTIONS WORKSHOP, OCTOBER 23-24

In this hands-on workshop, participants will examine tools and strategies for creating and managing digital image collections. Participants will focus on learning about software tools, best practices, standards and strategies for integrating with other digital resource repositories. The workshop will provide participants with an overview of topics in this area.
Teams of two will be preferred, with a mix of IT, faculty, and librarian roles also preferred.
This workshop is sponsored by CODEX, a NITLE collaboration for advancing the development of resources and strategies for digital assets management.

MAQAM AND METER: AN ARABIC MUSIC WORKSHOP TO BE HELD AT BOWDOIN COLLEGE OCTOBER 27-29

Workshop participants will examine music of the Arab world: popular and classical, sacred and profane. Participants will also consider the connection between musical and literary production in the Arab tradition.
