1) RHODES AND FURMAN BEGIN PILOT PROGRAM FACULTY EXCHANGE PROJECT

Professor Doug Cummins of Furman and Professor Cookie Ewing are sharing their expertise in Shakespeare with each other's students. The project began April 21 with Prof. Cummins performance at Rhodes of his one-man show "Shakespeare Lives". 2) WINNER OF VIRTUAL ART GALLERY LOGO CONTEST NAMED

Congratulations to Tomo Ogawa, a junior at Rollins College, who submitted the winning entry in the Virtual Art Gallery Logo Contest. Click on www.colleges.org/art_gallery/index.html to view the logo. Also look for new exhibits which will be posted later this spring. Contact Beth Bowser,

3) ACS COLLABORATIVE WEBSITE FOR IT STAFF

The Associated Colleges of the South has established a Collaborative Web Site for IT staff to share information with other members of the ACS. Topics include general news, university communications, virus information, SPAM, hoax information, diagrams, presentations, software sharing, and policies. Visit the site at: http://acs.richmond.edu

1) GLOBAL PARTNERS SEEKS FACULTY DIRECTOR

Global Partners seeks a faculty director for the Fall 2004 Semester in Turkey Program. First preference will be given to applications received by May 15, 2003. More information at:

2) LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE

The Global Partners Language and Technology Task Force is pleased to announce the availability of scholarships for language study in the summer of 2003. These merit-based scholarships are for study of any of the languages of the Global Partners Centers--Czech, Russian, Swahili, or Turkish. 3) FUNDING FOR CARLA INSTITUTE AVAILABLE

The Global Partners Language and Technology Task Force is pleased to announce the following funding opportunity for attendance at a CARLA (Center for Advanced Research in Language Acquisition) Summer Institute in July 2003. The institute is entitled, "Maximizing Study Abroad: Teaching Strategies for Language and Culture Learning and Use." Dates: July 28 - August 1, 2003. 4) ORPHEUS ALLIANCE SEEKS INPUT FOR ONLINE MODULES

The Orpheus Alliance is seeking topics and collaborators for online class modules in the general area of 20th century music. Existing modules are available at: http://www.colleges.org/~music/modules/modindex.html These projects are designed for use in music history, theory, and composition classes. 5) APPLY NOW FOR SPRING AND SUMMER 2004 TECHNOLOGY FELLOWSHIPS

6) FIFTH IT STAFF SYMPOSIUM PLANNED

ACS is planning its fifth meeting for consortium IT staff, to focus on training issues, customer service, technical trends and issues and/or IT leadership. 7) 2004 WOMEN'S/GENDER STUDIES CONFERENCE

Please mark your calendars now for the 2004 Women's/Gender Studies Conference: "Gender Acts! Activism: History, Theory and Practice" The conference will take place March 26-27, 2004 at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. The call for proposals will be available this fall.
