1. TEACH TOGETHER VIA TECHNOLOGY

Have you ever dreamed about team-teaching with a colleague on another ACS campus, but wondered how you would do it? The ACS Technology Center will be holding a seminar June 1-9, 2004 for individuals and teams who want to learn more about inter-campus teaching in the liberal arts. (First and last dates are travel days; teams may meet June 2-5 or 5-8.) Seasoned faculty and staff, all veterans of team-taught web courses, will demonstrate the faculty-friendly Course Delivery System software developed at the ACSTC, and offer advice on designing and running such courses. There will be plenty of opportunities for hands-on practice, as well as time to work on course content.

Teams are especially welcome, and we will assist in finding collaborators. For more information, contact Rebecca Davis, rdavis@colleges.org or (512) 863-1734.

2. APRIL 23 DEADLINE FOR SUMMER 2004 ACS TECHNOLOGY WORKSHOPS

The deadline for application for ACS summer technology workshops is April 23, 2004. ACS covers basic travel and lodging expenses. Early application is encouraged as acceptance is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information on workshops offered or to apply, please visit: www.colleges.org/techcenter/workshop/workshops.html or contact Rebecca Davis, rdavis@colleges.org.

3. HANDS-ON TEACHING OF BIOINFORMATICS WORKSHOP

MITC (Midwest Instructional Technology Center) will sponsor a workshop on teaching with Bioinformatics on May 13-15 at Hope College. The organizers invite teams of three, ideally including two faculty members from complementary disciplines (such as biology and computer science) and a third person who could serve as support for the team both at the workshop and after returning to their home campus: a (science) librarian, or (instructional) technologist (or a third faculty member).

ACS can send one 3-person team. Selection will be made on the basis of early reply to this message, previous opportunities, and value of the workshop to the applicant and institution. Airfare and lodging will be provided by ACSTC and NITLE for participants from our consortium. Application deadline is March 30. To apply or for more information, please contact Rebecca Davis at the ACS Tech Center, rdavis@colleges.org or (512) 863-1734.
----------

4. HUMANITIES PARK AND GO WORKSHOP

MITC (Midwest Instructional Technology Center) will sponsor a 4-day workshop followed by a 2-day symposium focused on teaching with technology in the Humanities on June 21-27 at Kenyon College. This event is looking for participants interested in attending just the symposium to begin thinking about how to incorporate technology and multiple media in Humanities teaching. It is also looking for two-person teams to propose developing specific projects for teaching about and through multiple media in the Humanities. For more information see: http://www.midwest-itc.org/~hum04/

ACS can send a team for both the workshop and the symposium and a second team to attend just the symposium.
