3) ACS GIS SYMPOSIUM: "PUTTING THE DIGITAL SOUTH TO WORK"

The ACS Tech Center will host a GIS symposium, Feb. 28-March 2, 2003 to exchange working GIS projects, provide "hands-on show and tell" opportunities, and compile this information into a GIS manual that can be used and disseminated on all campuses to further integrate GIS into the curriculum upon return. Participants will also discuss models for supporting GIS use at small colleges and what ACS and NITLE can do to support GIS at the consortial and national level. For more information, please contact Deena Berg at dberg@colleges.org.

4) 2002-2003 STUDENT MUSIC COMPOSITION CONTEST

For the second year the ACS music collaborative is sponsoring a student composition contest. Deadline for entry is March 15, 2003. The student winner will be invited to be a guest at the ACS Technology Workshop and to have the winning piece performed at the New Music Festival at Southwestern University July 17-22. Scores will be judged by a panel of non-ACS judges assembled by the ACS Composers Forum. The winning composition will also be recorded during the festival. Contest guidelines and entry forms are available at the ACS Music Composition site: http://www.colleges.org/~music/composition.html. Questions can be addressed to project coordinator Patricia Gray, gray@colleges.org.
