1. ENCOUNTERING CONTEMPORARY CUBA: MARCH 2003 TRIP

We are continuing to accept applications for our March 21-30 trip to Cuba for students and faculty. The trip is coordinated through the Center for Global Education at Augsburg College. This will be an intense and experiential seminar that will explore a variety of topics including: health care and educational systems, organized and traditional religion, the role of women in Cuban society, economic development and environmental sustainability. Cost per participant is $1740. If you are interested in participating in this trip you should immediately contact Teresa Wise, director of international programs, at twise@colleges.org. 2. MARINE BIOLOGICAL LABORATORY SEMESTER IN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

The application deadline for the Marine Biological Laboratory Semester in Environmental Science Program at Woods Hole, MA, is March 24, 2003. Faculty please remind any interested students of this deadline. A science faculty representative on each campus has application materials. If you do not know who this person is on your campus, contact your Academic Affairs Office. 3. ACS DIVERSITY CONFERENCE

The ACS Diversity Conference will be held on April 10-12, 2003 at Rhodes College. Conference information, including the tentative schedule is on the ACS website at http://www.colleges.org/diversity/programs/program0403.html. Contact your office of Academic Affairs if you are interested in attending this conference. Registration deadline is February 15, 2003.

4. ACS HOSTS SOUTHEASTERN THEATRE CONFERENCE LUNCHEON

ACS will host a lunch at the Southeastern Theatre Conference, Thursday, March 6, 2003, 12:00 noon to 12:50 p.m., Lincoln Room, Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Arlington, Virginia. Make your lunch reservations by February 15, 2003, by contacting Beth Bowser, ACS director of program development, at bowser@colleges.org or 404-636-9533, ext. 18.

5. ACS HOSTS COLLEGE ART ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE LUNCHEON

ACS will host a lunch at the College Art Association (CAA) Conference at the New York Hilton and Towers, New York City on Friday, February 21, 2003. Lunch reservations are needed by February 6. If you are attending this conference and have not made a lunch reservation, please do so by contacting Beth Bowser, ACS director of program development, at bowser@colleges.org, or 404-636-9533, ext. 18.

6. VIRTUAL ART GALLERY HOME PAGE DESIGN/LOGO CONTEST

The ACS Virtual Art Gallery home page design/logo contest is open to all ACS students. Entry deadline is February 15, 2003. Contest information is posted at http://www.colleges.org/art_gallery/logo_contest.pdf. The winning artist receives a $50 Amazon.com gift certificate. 8. LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES SYMPOSIUM

Students and faculty should begin planning now to participate in the 11th Annual Latin American Studies Symposium, April 4-5, 2003 at Birmingham-Southern College. Students can submit a one-page abstract for a paper involving original research. All topics pertaining to Latin America are welcome. Papers in English, Spanish or Portuguese will be considered. Faculty members are invited to accompany their students to serve as panel chairs and discussants. Proposal Deadline: February 15, 2003. 9. ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS TO SPONSOR WORKSHOP AT RHODES COLLEGE

The Campus-Community Partnerships Alliance will hold a workshop for all interested in teaching or working on environmental issues with community non-profits and groups at Rhodes College January 17-19, 2003. For more information contact Lizabeth Zack, zackl@rhodes.edu.

10. 2003 SUMMER TEACHING AND LEARNING WORKSHOP

This year's ACS Summer Teaching & Learning Workshop will be held June 3-8 at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. Junior and Senior Faculty from any discipline are invited to attend.
