ACS SUMMER TEACHING AND LEARNING WORKSHOP The ACS Summer Teaching and Learning Workshop is scheduled for June 1-6, 2009 at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. The workshop is designed for good teachers who want to hone their craft and build a culture of excellent teaching on their respective campuses. If you are interested in attending this year's workshops, please contact your academic dean or provost who then nominate you for participation. ACS will notify faculty members of their participation by March 1. If you would like more information, please visit the workshop homepage at http://www.colleges.org/summerteach/summerteach.html. 4. BRITISH STUDIES SYMPOSIUM The seventh annual conference on British Studies will be held on March 6-7, 2009 at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. Director Michael Leslie asks faculty to encourage their students to offer papers of about 12 minutes in length on subjects to do with Britain, its history and culture. Information on the conference maybe obtained from Michael Leslie at LESLIE@rhodes.edu. 5. LATIN AMERICAN STUDIES SYMPOSIUM The 17th annual Latin American Symposium, hosted by Birmingham-Southern College will be held on April 17-18, 2009. The interdisciplinary conference aim to promote undergraduate research focussed on Latin America. All topics pertaining to Latin America are welcome. The presentations should be 15 minutes in length. All participants need to register for the conference; the registration fee is $20. Panel/paper proposals should be sent to: Dr. Barbara Domcekova, Director, Latin American Studies Symposium, Birmingham-Southern College, 900 Arkadelphia Road, Birmingham, AL 35254, Phone: (205) 226-4975, Fax: (205) 226-3089.
