4. HENDRIX COLLEGE TO HOST CONFERENCE ON UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH IN THE HUMANITIES
Hendrix College will host a conference on Undergraduate Research in the Humanities on September 14-16, 2007. This conference will follow a workshop format and will focus on pedagogy and methods used in working with students and research projects in the Humanities. Dr. John Churchill, Secretary of Phi Beta Kappa, will deliver a keynote address and plans to participate with the groups during the course of the meeting. Hendrix anticipates that this conference will enliven discussion across the consortium on how to pursue undergraduate research in the Humanities and will produce a white paper that will begin to outline what kinds of programs are working well at our institutions.
Each ACS institution is invited to send a delegation of THREE participants to the conference, including one faculty member, one student, and one additional person of the institution's choice. Hendrix will defray the costs of participants up to $500 per individual and up to $1,500 per institution. Deans and provosts are asked to nominate interested persons. Please direct nominations and any questions you might have about the conference to Dr. Mark S. Schantz, Professor of History and Director of the Odyssey Program, Hendrix College at 501-505-2951 or schantz@hendrix.edu.
