1. JOB SEARCH FOR DIRECTOR OF CHINESE STUDIES
The consortium is searching for a director to lead and coordinate the new ACS initiative on Chinese Studies, funded by the Henry Luce Foundation. Information is available from Dara Hawkins at dara@colleges.org.
2. ENVIRONMENTAL GRANTS AVAILABLE
End of spring semester is the final deadline for Alliance minigrants. Curriculum and Faculty Development Alliance has already awarded all of its funds, but the Student Development and Engagement Alliance and the Campus-Community Partnership Alliance continue to seek your proposals for environmental projects including service learning and other community partnerships, environmental justice activities, student teaching assistants, and internal or external internships. 3. GRANTS FOR MELLON FACULTY AND INSTITUTIONAL RENEWAL
ACS is offering new grants in faculty and institutional renewal, supported by a grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. In the next round of grants, pre-proposals are due on October 1, 2008. For those pre-proposals that are approved, final proposals will be due on January 15, 2009. We encourage you to read the various materials and consider preparing a proposal for consideration. We are accepting proposals for individual and collaborative projects at one institution or across several ACS institutions. 5. ACS WOMEN'S GENDER STUDIES CONFERENCE PLANNING MEETING
ACS Women's Gender Studies Conference Planning Committee is meeting April 4 & 5 at Rhodes College. If you would like to participate in the planning of the ACS 2009 Women's Gender Studies conference, contact mwhite@colleges.org or lpetty@rhodes.edu.
