Global Partners

The Global Partners Project (GPP) was a joint effort of the Associated Colleges of the South (ACS), the Associated Colleges of the Midwest (ACM) and the Great Lakes Colleges Association, Inc. (GLCA). The project began in 1999 and was renewed for a second phase which ran until 2005. GPP was funded through the generosity of The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. GPP was designed to strengthen the international initiatives and programs of the 42 institutions in ACS, ACM and GLCA through shared resources and collaborative efforts.

Global Partners had many important components, including:

  • Establishment of three regional centers in East Africa/Kenya, Central Europe/Russia and Turkey
  • Identification and promotion of best practices in international education
  • Improvement and promotion of language instruction
  • Formation of regional alliances to identify necessary steps for collaboration, heightened efficiency and cost containment--specifically in East/Southern Africa, East Asia, and France
  • Development of strategic briefings for campus leaders to explore issues related to international education

Visit the Global Partners Project website for more information.
