PURCHASING DIRECTORS COMMITTEE
MISSION STATEMENT
The purchasing directors of ACS seek, through collaborative
effort facilitated by regular communications and periodic meetings, to:
- Review and recommend best purchasing practices, including cost containment,
quality assurance, value-added and environmental issues, identify
common denominators and adopt ACS Purchasing Standards for the selection
and acquisition of goods and services.
- Develop educational programs, including peer and professional consultancies,
to communicate ACS Purchasing Standards on each member campus and
promote integrated procedures to raise the level of purchasing awareness
and achieve the most favorable price/value balance.
- Continuously exchange new product and pricing structure information
and select specific commodities as targets of opportunity - for the
extension of existing favorable contracts held by individual institutions
to all members, and for the development, negotiation and maintenance
of new joint purchasing agreements that address common needs and meet
established standards.
